Ensconced: A program of sound works composed by students of the VCU Department of Kinetic Imaging focused on the use of Audio Spatialization and Surround Sound.

Throughout the course of the semester, VCUarts Department of Kinetic Imaging Sound 2 students have researched and worked with the use of spatialized audio in the realms of surround sound and ambisonics to create immersive listening experiences focused on the use of space as a compositional tool. To this point, we have explored presenting pieces in the Anderson Gallery and the Concert Hall at VCU’s Singleton Center for the Performing Arts. The presentation at The Byrd will be a showing of their final project for the semester, allowing students and the audience to experience the wealth of sound available in the unique environment. As part of the Sound Arts Richmond festival, we will also be sharing the wealth of talent thriving in our city.
