A City-wide Sound Exhibition in Richmond Virginia

March to August 2018

Sound is rapidly growing as a significant contemporary art form that encourages us to perceive the world in profound new ways.

Sound Arts Richmond is a Richmond, Virginia-based citywide sound installation presented by over twenty-five organizations and institutions that span the arts. Sound Arts Richmond will explore a range of approaches to using sound as an art medium and will feature work by 6-8 exhibiting sound artists in a range of exhibitions and performances. Along with gallery and museum exhibitions a series of events by contributing partners will present concurrent programs, including symphonic performances, film screenings, concerts, listening rooms, radio broadcasts, and community workshops.  This multifaceted exhibition taps into the energy of Richmond’s creative culture and encourages citizens to engage with contemporary art through listening.
